Want to live greener?

The city of Falcon Heights Environment Commission will host a “Sustainable Actions Fair” Saturday, April 28, at Community Park (at the corner of Cleveland and Roselawn avenues). The event will include workshops and a variety of organizations will have informational tables set up to help residents explore topics such as “Becoming a Zero Waste Household,” “Solar Options for Everyone” and “Household Energy Efficiency Upgrades.”

Featured presenters will include:

  • Minnesota Plug-In Vehicle Owners: Members of this local group will have their vehicles on-site and will field questions.
  • The Good Acre:Representatives will present information on its Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) subscriptions and food classes offered at its site at 1790 W. Larpenteur Ave.
  • Pollinator-friendly gardening:Find out how and what to plant to support the health of our pollinators.

Activities will run from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Participants are encouraged to take away one or more tips or ideas that will help them move toward living more sustainably. An activity for elementary-age children is planned for the morning, and light food and beverages will be available.

Spring Together on May 12

Spring Together at Curtiss Field Saturday May 12, 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., and celebrate the newly renovated park at 1555 W. Iowa Ave. This day of friends and conversation is a potluck, so bring your favorite dish to share. Cookies, bottled water, plates and utensils will be provided. The event, which will be hosted by the Falcon Heights Community Engagement Commission with support from Parks and Recreation, will include games, activities and a bounce house.

 

Fun at Community Park in July

Falcon Heights’ Ice Cream Social and Hot Dog with a Deputy will be held Thursday, July 19, 5 to 7 p.m. at Community Park, 2050 W. Roselawn Ave. The city and Ramsey County Sheriff’s Office are teaming up this year for the community celebration. More information will be available in June.

 

Park and Rec news

Falcon Heights’ Parks and Recreation summer program registrations are now open. Parks and Rec is offering a variety of summer programs and events, including youth activities that will start in June. Registration for sports, arts and playground camps is open. To see the city’s Summer Program Guide, go to www.falconheights.org and click on “Parks & Recreation” on the left side of the page.
