Christian W. “Chris” Wilberts, 61, of Lauderdale, died unexpectedly on the morning of Dec. 27, 2016. Chris was born July 6, 1955, in Marshfield, Wis., to Mildred “Milly” (Klinkhammer) and Henry Wilberts.
He was educated on Minnesota’s Iron Range and graduated from Bricelyn High School in 1973. Chris was an avid outdoorsman and felt most at home outside. He loved to hunt, hike and camp, but his primary passion was fishing. More than anything, he loved bringing friends and family on rustic fishing trips to northern Minnesota. When not working or fishing, Chris could be found tinkering on projects in his garage.
A blue-collar intellectual through and through, he loved to create using found materials and his imagination.
Chris was preceded in death by his mother. He is survived by his father; wife, Sue; daughters, Laura and Lyrik; son, Logan; grandsons, William and Henry; and brothers, Mark (Nancy) and Craig (Carolyn).
A memorial service was held in January at St. Timothy Lutheran Church in Como Park.
