Como Park Senior High School handed out some St. Paul souvenirs to the Minnesota senators on a March visit to Washington, D.C. The 15 seniors participated in the national Close Up program, which brings together students from across the nation to learn about U.S. history and government.
Highlights for the Como students were meeting Senators Al Franken and Amy Klobuchar and Congresswoman Betty McCollum, touring the Capitol, seeing Congress in session, touring the Library of Congress, exploring the Smithsonian Museums and attending a play at the Kennedy Center.
This is the ninth year that teacher Eric Erickson has taken a group to Washington. Erickson describes Close Up as “the ultimate field trip for students who are studying their nation’s history and government.”
