Dick Schoonover, 84, of Woodbury, died July 9, 2020.
Dick graduated from Murray High School in 1955, where he played football, basketball and baseball, earning a letter in all three sports over four years. Murray is also where he met Beryl. Dick and Beryl were married in 1956 and started their family in St. Paul.
Dick went to work for his father Chuck at the family business, Schoonover Auto Rebuild, taking it over in the mid-1960s after Chuck’s early passing. In 1973 he moved Schoonover Auto Rebuild to Shoreview, where he lived.
Dick helped develop legislation, rules and procedures granting rights to consumers and leveling the playing field with auto insurers.
He was preceded in death by grandson, Patrick. He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Beryl; sons, Jeff (London Savant), Scott and Mike (Gayle); six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and sister, Jody Roche (Michael).
