Hang out on University this Sunday, sans cars and buses

University Avenue will shut down between Hamline Avenue and Marion Street this Sunday, Sept. 15, from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. for St. Paul Open Streets.

In this unique and free event, 2.3 miles of the avenue will be closed to motorized traffic and transformed into recreational space, enabling pedestrians, bicyclists and people-powered wheels of all kinds to safely enjoy the street like never before. St. Paul Open Streets attendees will offer various activities, including live performances on three stages, free dance and exercise lessons and cooking demonstrations, and a chance to sample unique foods and goods from more than 50 local merchants.
