Joseph H. Scheunemann, 88, of Roseville, died peacefully after a wonderful, full life on March 10, 2017.

Joe served 33 years as a St. Paul firefighter and captain on the rescue squad. He began his second career as a home inspector, then retired at 79.

Joe enjoyed being a Scout Master and helped his wife, Arlene, a foster mother to baby animals at Como Zoo. He enjoyed skiing, casinos, traveling the country and world with Arlene.

He will be greatly missed by his many relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by the love of his life, Arlene, his wife of 59 years, and five siblings. He is survived by four children, Vicki, Terri, Joe (Christine) and Scott (Kathy); two grandchildren; a great-granddaughter and her soon-to-be sister; and best friends, Rick and Judie.

The family thanks Lyngblomsten Care Center, for the care and commitment the staff showed Joe.

A memorial service was held March 16 at Como Park Lutheran Church, with interment at Fort Snelling National Cemetery.
