Lois Ann Sexton of Franklin, N.C., died Dec. 19, 2021, in Highlands, N.C. She was born on June 10, 1935, to Gabriel and Anna Wahlstedt. She graduated from St. Paul Murray High School in 1953.
Lois developed a passion for the education of very young children. She earned a master’s degree in early childhood development and was director of the Macon County Head Start Program from 1981 to 1999.
She was preceded in death by her husband John Sexton and daughter Sandra Hopkins. She is survived by sons John and James Sexton, three grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and brother Robert Wahlstedt of Roseville.
