Marion Lorimer Eklund, 93, died July 6. She was the daughter of a Lutheran pastor; attended a Lutheran College, Bethany College in Lindsborg, Kansas; and later married a Lutheran pastor, Emmet Eklund.
The family served and studied at many locations around the country, Marion teaching preschool, then English; Emmet teaching or serving a parish.
After retirement, the couple became happy vagabonds, living in Geneva, Sweden, and in sabbatical homes in St. Anthony Park, and finally at 7500 York in Edina. During this time, they wrote four books, published by Bethany College.
After Emmet’s death in 2000, Marion moved to Heritage at Lyngblomsten, close to her family, friends and St. Anthony Park Lutheran Church, where she was active in women’s activities.
In 2012 she moved to Milwaukee to be near her daughter and her family, and died there this July.
She is survived by her children, Kent (Katherine) of St. Anthony Park and Joan Jacobs (Jonathan); four grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Her memorial service was held Aug. 2 at St. Anthony Park Lutheran Church, with burial at Lakewood Cemetery in Minneapolis.
