On Sunday, Aug. 23, the Falcon Heights Community Gardeners will host Mixed Precipitation as they will perform “Escape from Alicina’s Island: A Picnic Operetta” at Falcon Heights Community Park at the corner of Cleveland and Roselawn avenues. The show will begin at 4 p.m.
This summer’s performance will mark Mixed Precipitation’s seventh season of bringing opera, food and outdoor fun to parks and gardens throughout Minnesota in August and September.
Mixed Precipitation blends sweet and savory bites into the storytelling to celebrate the harvest. Chef Nick Schneider will craft a tasting menu that adapts to the story. The menu this year will include Alcina’s open-faced tomato cheddar melt sandwich, a watermelon canapé with feta and mint, Alcina’s antipasti, a smoky sweet-pepper jerky, dill pickles on squash chips and more. Food operations will be led by Kimlinh Bui of Sacré Sweet catering. Kimlinh leads teams of volunteers crafting the edible experience for each performance.
The picnic operettas are fun for all ages. The mix of theater, food, and music runs about 75 minutes.
Tickets can to be ordered online at www.brownpapertickets.com/event/1691394. The suggested donation is $10-20 per ticket. You can call Mixed Precipitation at 612-619-2112 for more information.
