Music in the Park announces lineup for Family Concert series

Yolanda Kondonassis and Jason Vieaux will open the 27th season of the Music in the Park Family Concert series at St Matthew’s Episcopal Church.

The Schubert Club’s Music in the Park Family Concerts series will open its 27th season Friday, March 3, with two performances by Yolanda Kondonassis, harp, and Jason Vieaux, guitar.

All concerts are held at St. Matthew’s Episcopal Church, 2136 Carter Ave., and have two performances, at 6 and 7:15 p.m.

The series features nationally and locally celebrated performing artists in programs of folk, ethnic and classical music. Storytelling, dance and audience participation are part of the programs, which are created for children of all ages and their families.

This year’s theme, “With Strings Attached” features three different concerts with a variety of stringed instruments, including harp, guitar, dulcimer, nykelharpa, fiddle, violin, viola and cello.

The Scandinavian Trio will perform Friday, March 24. The trio features Ross Sutter, guitar; Cheryl Paschke, nykelharpa and fiddle; and Marya Hart, piano.

Daedalus String Quartet will perform Friday, April 21. The quartet includes Min-Young Kim and Matilda Kaul, violins; Jessica Thompson, viola; and Thomas Kraines, cello.
