The Schubert Club’s Music in the Park Series and Family Concerts season will conclude in April with performances by the Lau Hawaiian Collective and the Shanghai Quartet.
The Family Concert “Water Music” by the Lau Hawaiian Collective will have two performances on Friday, April 12: one at 6:15 p.m. and the other at 7:30 p.m. Concerts are held at St. Matthew’s Episcopal Church, 2136 Carter Ave. The collective will also perform for students at St. Anthony Park Elementary School on April 29. The Shanghai String Quartet will celebrate its 30th anniversary on Sunday, April 28, at 4 p.m. at St. Anthony Park United Church of Christ, 2129 Commonwealth Ave. A preconcert discussion will begin at 3 p.m. A limited number of tickets are still available for $24. The quartet has a long history of championing new music and juxtaposing traditions of Eastern and Western music.
The Family Concert Series is supported by the St. Anthony Park Community Foundation and the Trillium Foundation. The Shanghai String Quartet concert is presented with the support of the Performing Arts Fund of Arts Midwest. The elementary school performance is supported, in part, by the St. Anthony Park Community Foundation.
