Open houses announced
Avalon School, a grades 6-12 charter school that focuses on project-based learning, will host two open houses for prospective students and their families in February: Saturday, Feb. 4, at 10 a.m., and Thursday, Feb. 23, at 7 p.m.

Avalon wins innovation award
Avalon was one of five winners of the Charter School Innovation Award, an initiative that began this year. Avalon won for its work in Different and Innovative Forms of Measuring Outcomes, an evaluation process that holds Avalon teachers accountable to each other, their students and students’ parents. The Minnesota Association of Charter Schools presented this annual award to five schools from across the state in December. Avalon received a $1,000 cash prize and a Charter Schools Innovation Awards banner. The awards re sponsored by the Labrador Foundation.
