Prospect Park Garden Walk is June 25

The annual Prospect Park Garden Walk and Plant Sale will be held Saturday, June 25, 10 a.m.-3 p.m. The Garden Walk is free.

This year’s event will have the theme of “nourish and nurture,” featuring gardens inspired by one or more of these essential elements: water, food and healing. The selection of public and private gardens will showcase both well-established and newly installed rain gardens, neighborhood vegetable gardens and therapeutic gardens (broadly defined), including fairy gardens and Zen meditation gardens.

The route will focus on the west side of the neighborhood in the area north of Franklin Ave,. centered on Malcolm, Barton, Arthur and Williams avenues.

A map and descriptions of the featured gardens will be available the week before the walk at the Signature Café, 130 S.E. Warwick Ave., and the University Avenue establishments, Schneider Drugstore, Hub City Café, Textile Center and Dunn Bros. Coffee Lab. You can also pick up a map at the plant sale on the day of the walk. The plant sale will be held in the parking lot at Pratt School, at the corner of Orlin and Malcolm avenues.

The sale will offer a range of perennial and annual flowers, foliage, fruit and vegetable plants, and shrubs. This is a fundraiser for the Prospect Park Garden Club’s neighborhood programs, including maintaining the pocket- park plantings and buckthorn eradication.

The Prospect Park neighborhood of Minneapolis, identified by the landmark Witch’s Hat Tower, is located east of the Mississippi River, just west of Highway 280 along University Avenue, Franklin Avenue and East River Parkway.
