Quilters share their work in the pews before donating a year’s worth of stitching

The congregation at Como Park Lutheran Church, 1376 W. Hoyt Ave., is treated each Thanksgiving to a sanctuary filled with the colorful handmade quilts created by the church’s Tuesday-morning quilt group. The quilters gather each week throughout the year to work on quilts made from donated material. At Thanksgiving those quilts are given to Lutheran World Relief and local agencies and shelters. But before they go, the parishioners get a chance to see (and feel) the handiwork up close at the Thanksgiving Day service.
