The Mustached Penguins in Tennessee
The Mustached Penguins, the fifth-grade Destination ImagiNation team, managed by Anura Sirrius and Maja Beckstrom, tied for third place at the Global Finals in Knoxville, Tenn., in May. The fifth-graders competed against 68 other teams in their challenge, called Wind Visible, which involved researching wind energy, making kinetic art and weaving an invisible character into their script.
Team members are fifth-graders Maasia Apet, Alistair Pattison, Amelia Schucker, Olivia Ahrens, Leandra Dahlke and Lily Gordon.
