St. Anthony Park Community Council District 12

Rebuilding Cleveland Avenue segment

The St. Anthony Park Community Council board will discuss and most likely vote on whether to support one of four possible ways to rebuild Cleveland Avenue from Como to Larpenteur avenues.

Options include whether to retain parking on the west side of the street between Scudder Street and Dudley Avenue and how to add bike facilities, whether as in-street bike lanes or an off-street path on the east side. The four concepts are shown here: https://www.ramseycounty.us/sites/default/files/ClevelandAve11X17mailer.pdf

The board meeting will begin at 7 p.m. on May 9 at Jennings School, 2455 W. University Ave. The street-project discussion is expected to begin at about 8 p.m.

Restoring Native Landscape at Kasota Ponds

Phase 1 of the buckthorn removal at Kasota Ponds was a success!

SAPCC contracted with Minnesota Native Landscapes to bring in a forestry mower and remove the invasive species. Several mature trees were marked beforehand and saved in an effort to provide perches for the birds in the area. Seed was put down to bring growth of native plants.

The cleared area provides greater access for the Council’s annual cleanup event in and around the ponds. Funding for the project came from a grant from the Mississippi Watershed Management Organization. All of this is part of the SAPCC’s work to create a native pollinator-friendly pond buffer that also assists in improving water quality.
