Chimney Swift Towers
Although the Chimney Swifts, a bird that migrates through Minnesota, have already moved on, the Environment Committee is still working to get towers ready for them to nest in next spring.
The latest tower will be installed near Territorial Road and Carleton (by the new mural installed by the Transportation Committee this spring).
Committee members recently dug the hole for the concrete base to get ready for the cement to be poured (thanks to a donation from Cemstone). The tower will be completed next spring with siding added and finishing touches completed.
It will take a season or two for the returning swifts to find and colonize the tower and we’re looking forward to following the action this spring.

Transportation Committee needs YOU!
Did you know that transportation is Minnesota’s biggest contributor to climate change? If you’re looking for one thing you can do, right here, about climate change, it’s to decrease vehicle miles traveled.
Join the District 12 Transportation Committee and work for better pedestrian, bike and transit options in the neighborhood and in St. Paul generally — and safer streets for everyone.
The committee meets on the last Tuesday each month at 7 p.m. on Zoom (Oct. 25 and Nov. 29). Email jessica@sapcc.org for the link.
Join the District 12 board
Elections for new District 12 board members will be happening in the coming months, and the board is looking for new members with new perspectives and experiences.
Are you invested in the health and safety of your neighbors, friends and family? Do you understand the interconnected nature of our community and the need to work toward racial equity? Are you a renter who is able to speak up for your neighbors?
We are looking for people who have a vision of unity, care and inclusion. BIPOC, LGBTQ+ folks, people with different abilities and folks of all ethnic backgrounds are encouraged to apply. If you are interested, please visit sapcc.org/board-members or email jessica@sapcc.org with any questions.
