Kasota Ponds CleanUp results

The St. Anthony Park community gathered on April 9 for the annual Kasota Ponds CleanUp events. The events were canceled the past two years due to the Covid-19 pandemic, but were back and strong this year on a beautiful sunny Saturday.

More than 60 community members collected 2,200 pounds of trash and recycling, filling more than 100 bags during the four-hour events.

Back again by popular demand, local entomologist Margot Munson shared insights about the insect population living in and around the ponds.

Land Use Committee update

The District 12 Land Use Committee recently welcomed two new co-chairs, Regan Golden and Nick Studinski.

Both have been regular members of the Land Use Committee and are looking forward to the unique challenges and opportunities ahead. This committee is seeking community members who want a voice in how the community looks and feels—from new garages to 10-story buildings. The Land Use Committee enables residents to provide input on city planning, incoming and existing businesses, events, noise variances and other issues that affect the planning and experience of the community. That input flows to the full community council, which serves in an advisory role to the city of St. Paul.

The committee has also been pivotal in projects throughout the neighborhood, from large projects (such as the Luther Seminary development) to smaller accessory dwelling units. Its goal is to ensure that citizens are aware of such projects and know how they can provide input on them.

The Land Use Committee meets the first Thursday of each month at 7 p.m. via Zoom. To learn more about how to get involved, please email jessica@sapcc.org or get the meeting link at sapcc.org/event.
